Week 4 - Platformer Game Development
Using Gdeveop I have been making alien adventures a platformer game designed to be accessible to all ages. To reach this goal
I have learned on how to navigate the gdevelop interface efficiently and use the visual editor to program and prototype game functions. I also learned about animation states and how to have certain actions affect the animation of the character.
Big inspiration to this game was the super mario franchise and taking inspiration from the mechanics of those games as well as the approach of the target audience. Another game which heavily inspired and I want to integrate further as I continue development was rain world in which creatues would adapt to the environment, in this way the aliens could be adapting to the new planet and possibly taking new forms as they become more familar to adapt better.
This week I was able to get all of the base mechanics working and I want to further follow into adding more of the behaviour ai for the enemies. I have also been doing some reading on the tricks that some games use to make the game more forgiving such as cyote mechanics in which the player is able to jump after leaving a block.
